They are dangly earrings, the little horseshoes suspended from an ear wire fitting. They have 'nails' embossed to the front and are both marked on the reverse 9 375 for 9ct gold. A pair for good luck, horseshoes facing down were said to pour good luck out and into there surroundings, in this case on the wearer! Horseshoes pointing up were also a good luck symbol especially when placed
